Headroom

Apologies in advance if this has already been discussed, I have searched but nothing definitive came up.

Is there a difference in the amount of headroom between the roadster and coupe? I'm aware of the 'double bubble' roof on the coupe but does it actually result in more space?

I've had my roadster for most of this year and it's been faultless and a joy to drive, just curious to know as I quite often have that nagging thought that a little extra up top wouldn't go amiss!
 
I don't know is the quick answer, but according to Wiki the E86 gives more headroom than the E85 with the roof up due to the double-bubble. Sadly it doesn't specify how much though! :lol:

A more determined search might, but hopefully there will be someone on here who has owned both and will know from personal experience. :thumbsup:

Doh, I never thought to go through the brochure! Can't see the wood for the trees. It does indeed quote the same measurement, though still curious as the roof shapes are slightly different so depending on 'where' you're sat in the cabin (don't say driver's seat :thumbsup: ) there may be something in it. I could, of course, just be clutching at straws!

The coupe roof shape is mirrored on the inside so it's lower in the middle.

I'd hazard a guess that there was fractionally more headroom than a convertible but to be honest if you're tall enough to hit the ceiling with the seat right down you will probably struggle more with legroom.
 
This many replies and nobody has mentioned that you can put the roof down for infinite headroom? This place is slacking! :P :D

That's my slight trade off at the moment. The legroom is ok though there's not much room for turning the steering wheel. Forcing myself back into the seat gains me a little extra in the legs but I then sit too high, and that's with the seat right down as you say.

No harm in finding out.

Maybe the solution is just don't drive with the roof up :lol:
