Headlights Do Not Lift

Yet another problem with this piece of junk.

Noticed that the headlights do not lift up sometimes after starting the car and turning the lights on. Full beams on to see normally.

This is not a problem during daylight hours however try driving with no bloody lights when it's dark.

I've got a beam of around 6ft from the front of the car.

I'll add it to the list of never ending problems with this car.

Air Con Control Unit replaced, power steering failure due to replacement Air Con Control Unit, window regulator busted, high rev's when idle, alarm goes off if a fly lands on the car, s**t service from Harry Fairbairns Glasgow as nothing is ever their fault after something else breaks within miles of them touching it, etc etc etc. Think I'm starting to lose count of the things that have went wrong with it.

Honestly starting to think this is the worst car I've ever had for problems. No, I'll correct that, IT IS THE WORST CAR I'VE EVER HAD FOR PROBLEMS.:headbang:

03 2.5i SE, Sterling Grey, ding in the drivers door, scratch on the bootlid, crap car.

Anyone know if there's a solution other than a gallon of petrol and a box of matches?

Might want to try several gallons of Diesel fuel and a box of Strike Anywhere matches!
Damn skelters; hate to hear of all your problems seriously :( . You know, with any car you have a chance of getting a lemon - perhaps that's what you've gotten, along with shitty Stealership services. I was very reluctant about purchasing my Z based on my dad's BMW experience: ROTTEN. But I took a chance and so far have been lucky.
If you consider getting rid of your POS and getting something different like Wondermike, hope you stick around :) . BMW isn't the only game in town.

I feel for you. Had a MB one time that stayed something wrong with it, and even when 'fixed', the problem wasn't fixed. Parted company with it after 8 months, couldn't stand the car.

And unfortunately, once you've been burned by a bad car and shitty service, it's hard to justify trying again :( . Hope skelters hangs in there though.

When I turn the key without starting the car (Air Con and radio off) with just the lights on the dashboard - turn on the lights and I can hear three low clunks as if the motor that lifts the lights is trying to work.

Sorry to here you're having so many problems :(

I don't think that it is typical of the car or the mark. I have had 21,000 (nearly) flawless mile on my Z4 and no problems with the what little servie that I have had to have (oil changes, a recall for possible battery drain with blue-tooth, and an adjustment to the brake pedal sensor). Like f-n-i said, there is always variablity from car to car and dealer to dealer.

p.s. One other minor flaw ... once in a blue moon, the right Xenon will sometimes go out for a few seconds, but only first thing in the morning, and only once for 2-3 seconds ... weird.

Changed the fuses for the headlights around and they now work.

Sounds like you had a bad power connection. Could have been high resistance due to small amount of corrosion on the fuse or in the holder not allowing the enough current to the motors....

Sorry to hear about your car.... It was made in the USA after all. FLAME SUIT ON! :fuelfire:

My first Z4M was a piece of junk. Replaced it with a Coupe and "touch wood" the car is fine. I was impressed by BMW Canada and how they were quick to replace my car and take a 'hit' in the process.
