headlight switch legends stay illuminated

Walking past my wife's 2004 Z4 2.5 tonight I noticed the orange legends around the headlight switch were illuminated. The car hasn't been driven in a week and noone had touched it. Opened the door and all interior lights came on. Tried starting it and It started fine so no apparent battery drain but cannot get the switch legends to go out. Checked ownwer's manual but It says nothing. Am I missing a switch somewhere or is this supposed to be this way and I just don't know it cause I'm a newbie.
I don't think It's ever done it before but maybe I /we just never noticed?

I noticed this on mine the other day... I believe it's LED and I believe its very low power (as they're hardly noticably when the car's off).

No idea if or where you'd switch that off tho.

As long as it 's a normal condition I won't worry about it.
Quite a pleasant area, Nottingham. Had occasion to visit on holiday about 25 years ago. We were driving an rental Ford escort back then. I'd certainly love to drive the GB countryside in the Z
