headlight level stuck down.

Happened before but mysteriously fixed itself. Then a few weeks ago the n/s headlight did it's level thing when I turned the car on, but the O/S one stuck down and didn't come back up.

Been like that ever since.

Any idea how to fix this? I have halogen headlights if that makes a difference.
 
Since it's just one then I'd go on the basis that the stepper motor inside the headlight is not working correctly (motor, connector, etc.). Less likely if it self fixed is that it's ball and socket to the light is disconnected, or arm broken.

Wheel off for access, inspection hatch and rear cover off and take a nosey inside.

Safe of course on halogens unlike xenons.
 
Cheers. Will need to be a bumper off job though as the clip that holds the back cover on has been modified as it snapped off :cry:

Some jobs are never simple!
 
If its the stepper motor that has broken, I've got a working one yours for some beer tokens!

Just to say,there are at least 2 different motors fitted for the the Z4.. Probably halogen/xenon..
 
Cheers for that :thumbsup: mine are halogens too, so may take you up on the offer if that is indeed the part that has failed.

I'll let you know tomorrow, hopefully get the lights out to have a look.
