Headlamp wiring colours?

Quick query folks,

Z4 halogen headlamps: two wires going to the H7 bulb (dipped beam), one brown, one black.

Which colour is the live?

I'm going with brown as that's more common but I'm asking to ensure I'm 100% correct!


(the current IEC regulations post-2006 are for brown to be live in a one phase set up, but I'm not sure if this is relavent for automotive wiring).

Brown is the colour of every neutral I've seen on my Z4 and believe me it's a fair few.
Opposite to UK mains wiring so that just confuses

Got there eventually. Just saw your post cj10jeeper and popped back out to the car - all working now. Why o why is car wiring the opposite colouring to everything else I know?!
