Headlamp washer pipe

Tonight my washer fluid emptied.
Quick look pipe come off headlight washer.
I push it on and it pulls off too easy, clip still on it,
Rotated it and it seems secure??
How do you activate said washers with lights on?

Switch ignition and side lights on. Pull stalk to operate pumps and headlight washer will also operate. Headlight washer will not operate with windscreen washer for a few skooshes. However, swith ignition off and back on and it will.
Spent 1/2 hr last night under wheel arch reconnecting same pipe for second time after bottle emptied. This time put a cable tie around small water pipe and fed another cable tie throught it before tightening first one around small pipe. Then put other cable tie around large diameter black housing thingy and tightened. So far so good. God I love cable ties...........

Ah ha! So you cleaned out the filters and now there's enough force to blow the pipes off!
Perhaps you have discovered a design feature? BMW allow the filters to block to compensate for weakening pipes as the cars get older. :roll:

So for all of us who saw your photos of the crud in the filters and planned to clean ours this weekend, the tip is, don't waste expensive washer fluid until you've refitted all those pesky pipes.

Take the fuse out, and save the hassle of ruining the lovely clean front end of the car with unwanted washer fluid spray!

They are no longer required for MOT on pre 2009 cars (I think it’s 2009, I need to double check!)

Yes, I took the fuse out to stop my headlight washers working - it's number 40.

I'm sure they are only required on cars registered after some date in 2009!
