Head gasket or not?

58 plate 2.0 sport.
No misfire, no hunting, no erratic idle, no dash lights, no faults on code reader autophix 7910, inpa or 1.4.
All cylinders returned consistent compression, see attached images.

Car runs so smoothly.

On a clandestine spin around the block it's bellows white smoke.

All I can think of now is it's been previously over filled with oil and unfortunately it has a digital dipstick, so short of doing an oil change, hi do we verify that it's not overfilled when the dashboard oil check merely indicates "ok"?

I’d do a quick sniffer test in the coolant to be 100% sure. Amazon test kits are around £10

I had a 2.2 which had no indication in the oil but showed exhaust gasses in the coolant.

Only way to check for overfilled oil is to do an oil and filter change then refill using a measuring jug for accurate amount of refill.
To check for head gasket failure you need a test kit to check for exhaust fumes entering the cooling system, kits on ebay here

We have previously done the sniff test on the expansion tank with a RELD kit off Amazon.

The fluid did not change colour and the plastic got hot enough it went limp.

Managed to save it though.

All set up ready for an oil change in the near future. Could do with getting the front a little higher as its still pointing fractionally down hill.

Yes, I am. I'm going on the basis that if the cylinders are all consistent with the compression and once I've changed the oil to confirm it's not over filled, if this then fails to cure the white smoke issue, then it'll likely be something else that not worth the time or money to repair given it's a 2.0.
In this circumstance, there will be a car for breaking.

If I can save a car, I will, as someone else can then enjoy it. Otherwise, it's parts can go to helping others.
