Hi folks

I bought an old Z4 for a bit of fun on a whim the other day expecting it to need work. On closer inspection after a few hundred miles, despite someones bests efforts to cover it up (they didn't put it back together properly) it's leaking some oil into the coolant, not huge amounts. I assume it's a leaking head gasket although i read it could be the gaskets in the heat exchanger so I'll change these first. Anyway I notice these engines were fitted with 0.4 or 0.7 mm head gaskets from new according to realoem, how do i know which one i need? - tempted to go for the thicker one just in case....

Take your vin number to a bmw dealers & they will know what head gasket your car needs-don't guess!

The thicker one may be to compensate for a skimmed head. So worth bearing in mind when ordering, if you think it may have also overheated at some point a head skim would definitely be in order.
