Thanks. I found the guy that runs that car on Facebook! He has a page for that car. He loved that pic! That's his daughter in the car and wife standing!
The thing I like about HDR is the detail it can through up sometimes. Check the engines detail out and the rear wheel detail on the first pic!
When I first saw HDR pics I loved them, then went off them a bit as some of the pics were getting too much, but these are a bit different. Love the last pic, that is someone hanging on for dear life.
Yes I used Photomatix and then layers in Photoshop to tone down some areas of the HDR. I use Lightroom 4 a lot now and you can get some nice HDR style effects without combining bracketed photos together in programs like Photomatix.
I went through a stage of doing loads of HDR pics and looking back some of them were too OTT. It's easy to overdo it, depending on what effect you want mind.
If used correctly it can bring back the scene you took to what it looked like to you when you took it. How many times have we taken a photo, especially of a country type scenic shot and when we look at them at home they don't look as dramatic as we remembered it looked when we took it! HDR can bring that back, especially with clouds.
