Hawes and Buttertubbs

With restrictions relaxed slightly and the weather being so nice I gave work a miss a got out to give the Zed a warm up before the run season starts. Started over on Rishworth Moor then headed up to Hawes and onto Buttertubbs Pass for a picnic lunch. Weather was superb and roads were very quiet. All in all a great day out.

I will be up there myself this weekend :driving: the 1st pic over the tops into Hawes is a great route out of the valley from Kettlewell / Buckden
"Buttertubs" itself is on the road north of Bainbridge isn't it ? Named after holes in the landscape that resemble butter tubs
Pic 4 is a good stretch away if not mistaken taken on Cragg Vale ? Some great roads up there :driving:
Pic 5 Ribblehead , turn left there towards Horton Ribblesdale & you have the most perfect 6 or 7 mile of fast twisty tarmac to enjoy

All correct. I took the left down into Settle, then up past the station and down to Sawley to join the A59. Had lunch just past the Buttertubbs storage holes on a bench looking out towards Thwaite and Keld

2 more great roads to try if you haven't already are the high ones from Askrigg to Muker & from Garsdale to Dent station , not the best in terms of flat out driving but both leave a lasting memory if you get on them in the right weather .

I think I have done those in the past and up around the TanHill inn down to Reeth

Some stunning scenery there OP, and empty roads - no wonder it was a great day out!

And a much better idea than working.

Great roads indeed Jay,done them alot on National meets over the years, some cracking roads indeed.
Looks like a great day for it, lucky you :driving:

Awesome. I explored some of those roads with the BMW car club last year. Hopefully get down again this year sometime

Had a great morning up there today, roads virtually empty barring the odd motorcyclist & farmer but noticeably busier around Ribblehead
Had 5 mins at same spot looking down the valley before I went down to Muker & back via Askrigg , Aysgarth & Kettlewell .

Stunning all around there. 2nd pic is where we had lunch. The bench has collapsed unfortunately but it was a great spot.
