Have you had your hardtop resprayed?

Hi folks,

I'm looking into the possibilty of purchasing a hardtop and having it resprayed to match the colour of the car. I've approached my usual bodyshop about doing this but as they have not done or seen one before they were reluctant to give a quote. This is where I was hoping you kind people could help me out :D

To those that have had their hardtops resprayed can you advise if any of the trim/spoiler had to be taken off or was it a case of masking off and spraying around everything? Any pointers on the cost to have this done would also be useful as that will affect any offer price on the hardtop!

Thanks in advance for any help

I had mine resprayed about 2 1/2 years ago, it cost about £250, there are definately people on here who have had them done more recently.
He certainly removed the spoiler and I'm pretty sure he removed the interior trim.

You don't say where you are but mine was done at a small body shop on Durham Lane in Eaglescliffe.
I would imagine current prices to be circa £300ish.

That seems like a very reasonable price to have it done. I take it the inside of the hartop was sprayed too if all the trim came off? I'm located in the Aberdeen area and whilst the guy I use isn't the cheapest he seems to be one of the best. His initial rough estimate was way higher than that but that was without seeing the hardtop. I might just bite the bullet and buy it. The Merlot Red and Black Sapphire mix might look quite good

Sorry for dragging this up again but does anybody know if the rear hardtop screen is bonded? I dropped it off at the bodyshop this morning and he suggested it may be more cost effective to mask round the glass rather than take the window out. Is this the norm?
