Has anyone used the Bilstein B4 shocks with Eibach Springs?

Hi all,

thinking about changing my shocks and springs one day, the Car has done over 100k now so i think its time for a refresh.

Not too worried about lowering the car as i dont want to make it hard to clear speed bumps etc.

I would like a B12 kit but its expensive and im not sure i can justify the cost with fitting and allignment on top.

This seems like a good compromise and seems pretty reasonable.

Any info would be great.

Thanks

Ash

I posted a link yesterday for Eibach springs for £120 delivered, not sure how much more the Bilsteins are on their own so can't comment on whether the price is reasonable.

Eibach themselves recommend Bilstein B4 with their springs, so it's the right combination anyway.

Have you seen the price of this kit?

I thought rather competitive!

That is a pretty good price :)

Is is worth the extra 260+ Euros though?

The b4s are basically OE equivalent. The b6s are higher spec but designed for standard ride height. The b8s are the same spec as the b6s but are designed for lowering springs. And the b12kit is the b8 dampers with Eibach springs....

Personally if you're going to the trouble of replacing dampers, I'd pay the extra to have the uprated variety! I'll be purchasing a b12 kit for mine in the new year in preparation for the springtime overhaul ;)

Bloody hell, just blew another £400 after reading this post! I need help.

Are you going to fit the kit soon?

If so can you tell us how you get on with it?

Thanks

Ash

What else are you going to relace mate? are you going to fit the kit yourself?

Thanks

I was planning on a fairly substantial refresh of the suspension. Top mounts front and rear, dampers, springs, polybush the RTABs, new droplinks front and rear, possibly also polybush the front wishbone lollipop bushes, and new wishbones. And then another trip to get the geo done!

I was going to give the work a go myself with a friend. The wishbones aren't too bad, neither are the dampers, but I may get the RTABs done by TWG automotive in Camberley.

Ok it would be great to know how you get on :) Im not a million miles away so may pay TWG a visit in the new year if your happy with there work.

I was just going to do shocks, springs and top mounts for the time being and see how i get on, i do have a RTAB limiter kit as well so may possibly get that fitted too. :)

I won't be doing mine until the summer but hope to provide pics and feedback. Haven't done this sort of thing for many a year and the bones are much older now. What satisfaction though if it all works out well. I intend - eventually - to renew all the under running gear as the car is on 83k now.
Cheers Amigos.
