Has Anyone Bypassed the Airbag Light on 06-08 Models?

I'm ready to install my 2nd race seat and only reason I've held off till now is due to the dreaded airbag light that would result after disconnecting the occupancy sensor. The only workaround is to purchase a new mat sensor which costs approximately $500usd. Instead I'm going to try one of those eBay emulators which tricks the car into thinking someone is in the seat. Has anyone tried this yet?

I bought one for my 320 when I replaced the seats for M Sport ones and found the driver seat had the mat fault :headbang: . I bought an emulator off ebay fitted it expecting it to remove the light and it didn't. I would have still had the light reset at a garage. In the end I sold on the seats. So if you do change tit factor in you will need the light reset even if buying the part.

If you fit the bypass before triggering the light you won't need to get it reset is my understanding.

That's weird, the driver side doesn't even have a sensor from what I recall, if the car is being driven it assumes someone's in it. Regarding the light, I believe if you disconnect the battery prior to removing the seat, the light should not come on.

Yes disconnect battery for 30 mins before disconnecting the electrical yellow connector under seats, the drivers seat doesn't have a sensor.
I bought off ebay a bypass pluggin for about £10-12, only thing you will need to do is have the car coded to switch off the seat belt chime for the passenger seat. This is because the bypass makes the car think that there is someone in the seat so the airbags work.

To dis-activate seatbelt chime is done in retrofit section of SSS, I have done this to mine. All works fine.

Should you get the airbag light on dash, this can be cleared in DISv57 software.

Just want to report, the bypass module from eBay works! After removing the stock seat, I made sure to disconnect the battery for about 30 mins. Unplugged harness below the seat, transferred over the occupancy wire along other cables. Plugged in the module, installed my race seat. Turn key, NO airbag light =)

Oh yea, 2 things to keep in mind though:

1. With this bypass, the car assumes someone is always riding in the passenger side. That means should you be involved in an incident even with nobody riding beside you, the passenger side airbag should/will deploy.

2. Because the car assumes someone is occupying the seat, you will get the seatbelt chime on. Seller provides 2 workarounds, one involves opening up the receptacle. The other is to keep the belt always plugged in. I actually purchased a separate seatbelt extender to use with my Recaro so something's always plugged in.

You can disengage passenger seatbelt chime in retro section on SSSv32 software, to do it though you must have installed changes.iso file to software. This allows the you to change the voltage in to right of screen to over 14, otherwise retro section not accessible.
