Has a Cat C car definitely had structural damage?

peddy - if you know this to be a 'CAT' car, then I'd report it to ebay. That's outright fraud to sell without advising of it

looks like a nice example. given that one was available here for 15k a few weeks back. i would be looking to pay approximately 10-12k for a cat c or d

No - fraud is a deliberate misrepresentation of the facts, this clearly isn't but the description should trigger an astute purchaser to ask the right questions and do the appropriate checks (well I would for a potential £15k purchase). It may well be a breach of E bay vehicle selling codes which is a different issue.

I think this is a clear misrepresentaion of the facts. If the car has been written off by an insurer and classed as such, it's a material fact that should be disclosed.
If it is a Cat car the owner is deliberatly missing that information off to fartificially raise the price.

I think CJ is right... The guy sounds dodgy... I think he would have been better off stating it as now he seems dodgy and makes you think if there was anything else...

hmmm... That is very tempting CJ... If it's only body panels then it can be repaired easily within £1k...

bumper: £100
wing: £150
airbag: £100
respray: £300
wheels refurb: £150

Only took a quick look so can't comment on rad, etc. If the airbag deployed there will be some damage though

You're cost look low. I think a bumper cover is nearer £600, wing £400. so nearer £2k repair.

I see a lot of cars advertised by that company with the grey roadster, always seem a bit rough though and a bit of a risk. Has anyone actually dealt with them in the past?

But you wonder why it's been 'written off' with only £2k of repairs needed to get it back onto the road - unless it's been dumped by a previous owner and owes a lot on finance.

Also don't forget that HPI is not infallible, so whilst a car you look at now might not be recorded as a write off, it can take a while for the records to update. Although in 99% of cases you'll be fine!
