Harry’s Lap Timer

Can anyone recommend an OBD reader that they’ve used with Harry’s Lap Timer.

HLT won’t connect to by eBay special OBD reader (measurement frequency is too low). I’m aware the HLT website recommends a few but I’d prefer not to pay ~£100 for an OBD if I can help it.

Cheers

Do you need an iOS or Android compatible one?

I've used a GoPoint BT1 for about a decade (with an iPhone/iPad), as it was about the most reliable one below £100 at the time...but I don't think it's even available any more.

Looks like the latest recommendation (over the BT1) is the PLX Kiwi3 (about £90) or Kiwi4 (£140).

The 'cheap' option is the Veepeak at about £40...but is a bit more temperamental.

I soon realised that the extra cost was worth it if it saved me throwing the damn thing out of the car when it refused to provide any data after a nice couple of laps...and the cost was insignificant compared to the cost of 100 Nurburbring laps & fuel :P
