Hardwiring a Sat nav

I have a BMW(Garmin) dash mounted sat nav that I currently power from the cigarette lighter, but I am now sick of having the wires trailing across the car dash. Has anybody on here hard wired a sat nav into the car using a switch live connection in the steering column?

Use a switched fuse in the fuse box. The write up for hard wiring a dashcam that number5 did on here should tell you all you need to know.
