Hey
Im thinking about buying a hardtop, and was woundering if it is any good and worth the money? I live in the cold north of Europe so its meant for the winter time. If anyone has any pics of the Z4 with one on I'd love to see it :)

Im going to go with the soft top during the winter here in MN, though I dont know how ours compares with Oslo. I think the top on our car is pretty well made, maybe theres some products we can use to prepare it for winter?

hehe... thanls for all the answers an d highstream, jeg skal kjøpe en :) Me and my dad are traveling to Germany, where they cost like half as much. Does anyone know if a 17 year old student driver can drive there? :oops:
 
These are photos of my '06 Montego Blue roadster: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2771&p=40226#p40226. The hardtop was one of the clinchers for buying the car. The hardtop window is larger than the soft top so better visibility and it's a quieter inside when on the freeways. It also transforms the car to have a completely different look so, to me, it's like having two cars. There is also plenty of head room with the hardtop. I have nothing bad to say about it so probably biased !! Good luck.
 
I love the hardtop on mine. Give the car a very different look and feel for the Winter season.

With an electric winch/lift fitted in the garage I can remove it in under 5 minutes if the weather permits a roof down drive. One of my 'must have' options.

hardtop is definitely a must-have for me.. used to own a Z3 Coupe and enjoyed the fact that I could drive it 365/365. Of course I know, a softtop might allow for this as well, but the level of comfort in colder weather is great using the hardtop. :tumbleweed:

IMHO it gives the car a different (and cool) look. Weather here in NL is quite ok in summer, but in especially autumn it does get fairly wet. Bought the Z4 hardtop also to preserve the softtop and to go back to the Coupe feeling from time to time :lol:

Keep an eye on Ebay and try to avoid buying one when everyone else does ... :wink:

I got mine used for about half the price the dealers wanted. I used it for half of last winter, the soft top was okay, but I wanted something for the snow and freezing temps we get. The road noise is less and like other people have said the visibility is slightly better with the hard top versus the soft top up. The option for a coupe look anytime I want is worth it to me. When I was considering buying a Z4, the first pic I saw of one with a hard top sold me.
