Hardtop now or front end respray in the Spring

Been doing a bit of reasearch , mostly on this forum , as to the prose and cons of the hardtop versus a front end respray ,costs seem to be about the same , personaly im thinking of going for the front end respray , to keep that as new look .

Are you saying you have a hardtop in a different colour and it's competing for cash Vs front end respray or buying a hardtop?

I'd expect it to be around £700 to £1k for a hardtop Vs around £200 for a front respray.

I'd get the hardtop now and respray the front in the Spring after a Winter of gravel and salt damage
 
£200 for a front end respray! :roll: My bumper cost £160 and thats cheap imo. Front end is normally like £500-800 imo. Unless you know them very well. Or are you thinking front bumper, not bonnet and wings?

Front bumper only and actually last time I paid £80 (and still looking for the receipt....lol)
 
Thats very cheap! I know my paint guy, not brilliantly but went on a stag do in Madrid so can bribe him :thumbsup: :rofl:
 
You would have to do bonnet and wings otherwise the colour match will never be perfect. I had it done earlier in the year, just need to sort out the dings on the doors and a scuff on the rear bumper now :roll: Oh and the scuffs on the wheels :cry:

That's why I put £200. Depends on who you know and if you're prepared to take a bumper in and leave if for a few days until he has time to slot it in. Even better if you know when he'll be tooled up to spray the same colour on something else.

Dreamer - I agree re bonnet to wings, wings to doors, etc, but bumper to bonnet/wings is way less critical, the 2 flat surfaces side by side.
 
Hmmmm, A wee bit of confusion, by front end respray Im meaning bumper wings and bonnet. which I expect to cost in the region of £1000, which is around the price of a used hardtop plus paint . There again I could get a new set of wheels , decisions ,decisions :lol:

Sounds a lot to respray them all, but my opinion of the top pre Winter and the respray post Winter still stands.
