Hardtop for E85

Hi all,

just wanted to ask if anyone knew about the possibility replacing the rear screen on a hardtop?

I seem to remember someone saying something (somewhere on the forum) about the glass not being available seperately, and that if it went, a new hardtop would be needed... is this true or am I getting a little confused?

I did have a quick search but didn't get anywhere - sorry.

Thanks in advance :)

You might as well all stop watching it now. Rule 1 - Do your own research on items or ask questions after bidding has ended

BTW - that links for glass for an E89

you are not thinking of the one on ebay with smashed rear screen, are you :P

Of course he is.......

Busted! :p

Not that people aren't looking at it already, figured someone would do a heads-up sometime soon anyway. But if it were cheap enough and the glass was available, it'd be worth a punt, it looks ok. But I'd pity the poor soul who buys it and can't get the glass...

Last time I looked it was over £150.00 and rising. Add the glass (if available) and a respray (it needs it) and it doesn't look so much of a bargain.

A potentially expensive headache maybe

18 bids and £377, so this little fella is going to get closer to the £500 mark when all the ebids come in at the end. Add driving it home with no glass in and then the new glass, getting that fitted, repairs and respray to paint that bmwangler rightly references and it's not such a good buy

You've got to believe the insurers would have had it repaired if it was cheap/easy and not splashed full rate on a replacement.

£402 and rising with 6 hours to go.

The glass available from Coopers @£121.54:-

The part in detail:
Rear window
Part 54217076392 , Rear window
Type:Rear window
Price: £121.54.

I suppose that it then has to be bonded in?

Now that you have posted that price I raise the expected sale price to £600 as someone will figure that plus £120 plus a respray gets them a colour coded hood for say £800 to £900 Vs current selling price of around £1,000

BTW - no intention of bidding myself - just like watching it go up and up.

well im putting the theory to the test...

Popped my rear window on my hardtop yesterday <slaps forehead>

Getting a new glass panel fitted once i get back from holiday, £280 inc - £130 for the glass the rest is on fitting (BMW Sytner)

At least the sun is out :?
