Hardtop Colour, Opinons Please

I have recently bought a Hardtop for my Z4 with the intention of getting it sprayed to match the car,

However a number of people have said they like the contrast and the look it gives the car, just wondered what a wider perhaps more knowledgeable crowd think.

"a number of people" are visually challanged and should never be asked their opinion again :fuelfire:

It looks daft. Black on grey could work, infact I think someone has this setup, or black on silver. But silver on grey looks like you've simply got the wrong hardtop on.
Ironicaly, I had a sterling grey one sprayed black just a few weeks ago (it came from Scotland....)
You'll want to remove the spolier to get it sprayed properly, which means removing the inner liner. Before putting the liner back, tape down any loose wires, the guy that sprayed mine removed the liner for me but can't have taped down the wires and I have an annoying rattle now. I'll have to have a look at it when I can :headbang: it will be coming off for the summer soon though.

With the weather today, it looks like I should be removing mine right now

it doesnt look too bad but id get it colour matched to the car. i almost bought a hard top but then thought - i bought a roadster for a reason, and why slap even more weight on top.

B****R, it was a Sterling Grey one I was really after, to make matters worse I'll be driving passed Darlington tomorrow, to leave the car at my parents in Eaglescliffe while I go to France to work for a few weeks.
I had a ballpark quote last week for getting it sprayed, not only did they want to remove the spoiler they also wanted to remove the rear screen rather than mask it off to ensure they got a proper key with the paint.

Nothing to do with the Forum but at this moment in time it's great to be English living in Scotland having just won the Rugby, not rubbing it in with the guys I watched the game with much. Well not they have gone home to sulk.

Ouch! Although I'd have to agree.

Hmmm, I'm the opposite so going to get loads of grief at work on Monday. Thanks god for the Italians, so we'll miss the wooden spoon.

OMG! The hardtop of your car would look shocking...... Get rid of it now but make sure you give me a PM on how much you want to sell it to me for ;)

As fo the Silver its a no go for me too looks awful.

Apologies if you've mentioned it but why not sell it and buy another in the right colour? If you bought it at market value then you will be able to recoup yuor money in full and surely the sterling one will be same price?

Has to work out cheaper than spraying it, and it's not as if you need a hard top now that we're having our summer early!

Just my two cents, paint it the same color. They look fantastic, I had one on my first Z4. I had it painted professionally for $150.00 US, they did not take the spoiler off either and it came out perfectly underneath the spoiler. Good Luck  :driving:

I'm joining the crowd in saying that it looks terrible. :( Actually, do something even better, replace your roadster by a coupé.

I was having a similar thought a few months ago. I wanted a black hardtop to go with my Alpine White roadster. In the end i decided that I didn't really want a hardtop at all as I enjoy driving with the roof down so much that I didn't want to miss a day when I couldn't be arsed to take the roof off.

IMHO the 2 tone silver doesn't work, not enough contrast.

Careful what you ask for on this forum,,,,you may get more than you wanted!

BTW, I think the 2-tone looks hideous. :)

It looks terrible. But it could've been worse. It could've been these. From the same crowds who bashed the Z4's styling. :fuelfire:

To be honest with you it says to me, "look everyone I've bought a hardtop off eBay and I couldnt find the right colour so went for this one. I may get it sprayed I may not". :)

Maybe an idea to sell it to someone with a silver car and find a streling silver one which I am sure come up. DOnt suppose you need it now as the weather is picking up.....
