Handbrake cable removal/lever replace

Sorry, another handbrake question! I've just got a good second hand lever assembly to replace mine. I've seen the method where you can replace it from in the car, but can you release the cable and reattach from solely within the car, without touching the adjusters at the rear wheel? Just trying to work out if I want to attempt the replacement myself or not.

Once you have removed all 3 nuts, there will be enough play to release the cables.

Do the cables just come out like a bike brake cable? I see there's a tensioner by the lever that you have to release when working on the handbrake, can I leave this alone?

The cables have a ball on the end and you rotate the cable round and they slide out. They are held in with a large black piece of plastic that pulls off.

Undoing the nuts is by far the hardest part.
