Hi

My handbrake seems to go up to 8 before it really bites.... so I thought i would adjust it.

Ive looked on numerous sites and videos and get the impression that mine is not the same as everyone elses.... unless im missing something.

Wheres the the little pin that i need to slide over to let the tension off the spring ????

Cheers guys

Second photo

You can see the spring down between the handbrake mech

The lever is depressed on that spring

Suggest you look at Pelican Parts for details on adjustment here
https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/BMW_Z4M/92-BRAKES-Parking_Brake_Adjusting/92-BRAKES-Parking_Brake_Adjusting.htm
Expand the pictures and the adjustment spring that has to be latched is arrowed with a red arrow. It can be latched using a screwdriver to depress it although there is a special tool available to do it on ebay. Its not as easy as it sounds but has to be done to take the tension off the cables before adjusting at the wheels.

Thanks Guys appreciate it, I have had a look at all these videos and im going to have a look in the car in 5 minutes....

How many clicks would you find is acceptable before the handbrake starts to become stiff.?

I did mine yesterday for the first time and it's really easy.

I kinda followed this https://www.pelicanparts.com/techar...arking brake lever, brake warning light is ON.

I didn't do anything inside the car with hand brake lever.
I just jacked the car up under the diff, put axel stands under the rear jacking points, took the wheels off and lined a wheel nut hole up and turned the adjuster with a flat head screw driver. Put the hand brake on and tried to turn the disc by hand it I couldn't, so did the other side the same, but turned the adjuster the opposite direction.
Put the wheels on and checked it again, then put it back on the ground and tried to pull away with the handbrake on and it stalled, so I'm taking that as a win.

All in all it took about 40mins and that's the first time I've done it on Z4.

Once adjusted with the service spring latch released the handbrake should be three clicks up so the drum cant be rotated.
