Halogen lights on a Xenon fitted car

Hi peeps, I'm rather new here (been an avid viewer for a while never a poster) and there's alot of headlight talk on the forum. So I thought I'd seek just a little clarification before I spend a shed load of money. :?

Can I fit facelift Halogen headlights to my facelift 2006 Coupe that previously had Xenons without any mods? (can afford a new xenon but can afford 2 Halogens)
Can I use my Xenon parts from my facelift Xenon headlights to convert a these said Halogen headlights to Xenon, thus eliminating the concern entirely?

Thanks

The answer is almost certainly 'no' since xenons won't work when simply dropped into halogen looms. They generally need a quick LCM recode to make them work. You'll also need to sort our something to adjust beam height as xenons use suspension sensors to control pitch and yaw movement and thus adjust beam. Halogen use a knurled adjuster on the LCM module (next to the light switch)

OK so you could retrofit xenon interiors into halogen outers if you're prepared for some surgery. spapping looms butting holes for ballast mount, etc.

I believe you 'll be the worlds first though with a retrofit downgrade

Why would you ever want to do this?!

Whats up with your current lights.. being a coupe it would be a facelift with clears... so are you wanting to change them due to damage?

I believe based upon another thread that the NS xenon is damaged. Don't know which part or the extent of damage.

You guys have miss read the post as I first did when I went to answer and ask why the hell would you do this.

The OP is in fact asking if he could buy a Halogen Headlight and transfer the Xenon internal into the Halogen therefore saving money.

Thats precisely what I was intending to do, the N/S Xenon was damaged quite badly, but all the Xenon parts survived. however I've bit the bullet and called up my mate at BMW and got a genuine replacement for £640, cut into my savings but hey, at least I know its the right light and no need for messing with any conversions.

Personally I think that's an excellent price.

SR - I certainly didn't misread it and answered both parts of the question 1) if halogen headlights could be fitted and 2) in the internals could be retrofitted :poke:

Doesn't matter now as the proverbial bullet has been bitten adn a new lamp purchsed
