Had a surprise with my knob today

Catchy title out of the way…..was giving the interior of the E86 a bit of a clean when I decided to give the gearstick knob a tug.
Always fancied changing the knob to one of those weighted ones, but really concerned I didn’t have the manly strength to pull it off, or maybe had to much manly strength and would damage something or just poke myself in the eye.
Shock horror, double handed, not a huge amount of oomph and off it popped 🤪All whilst seated. No straddling of the handbrake required.
Quickly shoved it back on after feeling a tad surprised.

Question….the weighted knobs, when you put them on, is there a grub screw etc to keep them on? How do they stay on?

The ZHP one fits the same way as the one you removed, but I don't know about the other alternatives.

Going to put up a Zedfest challenge.
Free spinning original centre wheel cap, for anyone who call pull off mine (oooerr mrs)

Have had a ZHP sitting here for ages. :D

My Storm V1 has two grub screws, but be aware they do need tightening up every so often.

Grub, screws and knob, there’s got to be a joke there somewhere. Come on Pondrew where are, wake up :poke:

I fear my juvenile sense of humour is no longer appreciated on this forum Michael! So I will not comment......... :!:

I recently bought a Chinese knockoff shifter and after reading this thread, I think I'll return it. It "looks" cool, but I have a feeling that for the $39 I paid for it, it won't feel good. Also, the shaft is some type of plastic. Does the OEM or ZHP shifter have a plastic or metal shaft?

Also, I have NOT been able to remove my shifter. I've tried pulling it really hard, but I'm afraid I'll damage something... I followed videos that explain step by step how to remove it, but still no luck....
