H&R OE Sport Springs

Any member using these springs and with what shocks and engine?

I am thinking of lowering my car and i have the following options:

1. M sport springs with bilstein sport - ride height perfect (15mm drop) but expensive and known broken spring problem
2. Eiback prokit with bilstein sport - ride height might be too low (30mm plus drop), not as expensive as #1
3. H&R OE Sport with bilstein sport - fear it won't lower the car much, cheapest but since it won't lower much, what's the use of buying lowering springs.

Anyway my question is for #3:

1. Any members who has this setup?
2. How many mm did this setup actually do to your zeddy?
3. H&R claims the drop could be from .25 inches (6.5mm) to as low as .75 inches (19mm); it would really be helpful for me it you guys can share the actual drop in your zeddy.

Thanks in advance

Can't help, but I'm buggered to think why you'd want to lower it, mine scrapes its front all over the place, I like the look of lowered cars, BUT I'd never be able to take it anywhere lol....Aren't Z4's low enough? :D

I just scraped my frontend on some curb. It sounded like s**t!

I wanted to lower my car.. But I would prefer a coilover type of setup that way I can adjust it per situation.

exactly like you, i like the look of lowered cars and if the OE sport springs from H&R lowers our zeddy by .75 all around then this would be my choice, lower than the M sport suspension by 4mm but still not low to be impractical

melbs, are you on M Sport suspension already? If so, the Eibachs will drop your car a further 14-15mm only (not the full 30mm). I know, I've got them and measured my ride height before and after carefully. Quite fancy shocks too soon though!

I'm on standard suspension.

Looking at H&R's site further, it seems that they do not make OE Sport Springs for the Z4, only for some bimmer models like the 1 series and E36s.

I guess its down to eibachs or the M sport springs

Ah right. Forget my comment above then.

Shame H&R don't have a Z4-specific spring - I had H&R coilovers on a previous car and the balance between performance and ride comfort was perfect. Obviously I'm biased against the M Sport springs after breakages, but I'd recommend the Eibach springs regardless: good combination of ride comfort (better than standard IMO) and performance. Not sure how standard shocks would cope compared to M Sport shocks though.

most probably i will get eibachs with bilsteins, the m sport springs are more than double the price of eibachs, plus with all the reported broken springs, i'd not risk it at that price :( if there were only cheaper, they would be perfect.

but the height on eibachs just makes me worry damaging the front end and scrapping the under chassis

melbs, same thinking is what led me to Eibachs instead of BMW springs: I didn't want the risk of them snapping again.

I've only had two "hits" since fitting Eibach springs 7 months ago, and both were those damn half-width speedhumps that you straddle with your wheels (I don't now!). Both were complete surprises because they were the last in a series of humps that I'd managed OK so far on, but the last one was certainly higher and I heard a WHACK. Fortunately only light-sounding scrapes and no damage. Not had any scraping during normal and vigorous driving though :)

been on eibachs about 6 months already, and i really like the look of the car, however as expected the underchassis scrapes a lot of humps. the front and rear plastic mudguards (are they mudguards?) scrapes a lot of things on the road

overall, if you hate going slow on humps don't get this.

tracked the car and cannot seem to feel any performance gains, in fact it made the car bouncier on certain sections, i need to get the proper shocks to match these springs

i have considered all of these, but im going Down the Air ride Route, adjustable height when ever, no need to take the wheels off and turn then up or down. just a button :driving:

Joe.

My drive is on a downward slope, and watching the wife reverse it off the other day,any lower and the whole middle section of the car would scrape it's belly as it comes off the drive and onto the road.My only option is for OE.Shame really.

how much do these cost? on our X5 these oem air suspension gave way too fast, less than 3 years and they were shot already, and its not only the actual air springs that leaked, its the air supply device that got busted as well.

I've just got H&Rs and that pretty much sums up my experience too - did you ever get new shocks? I'm thinking new shocks might control the body more over bumps and lead to a reduction in scrapes... possibly wishful thinking though

Sorry to reply to the old thread again, the car I just bought has been lowered on H&R springs, should I be scared of speed bumps or will it be ok if I take them slowly?
