Just an aside but a good mini series from the 90s with lots of spits in action is Piece of Cake which has a spit flying under a bridge, supposedly in France but actually somewhere up north, I've got the series on DVD

Agree, in LR circles re-ageing cars only seems to be found on vehicles upto the mid 90s models. It's surprisingly easy to turn a 1990 LR90 into a 'series 2' tax free 1960 vehicle. Only need a screwdriver and biro!
yes i didnt actually mean a new one from the showroom, but a much much newer vehicle can morph into an older tax free one, a land rover has a simple ladder chassis that you can replace quite legally as they rust out, my friend has just bought a galvanised one.you have a 1960 lr for eg, you have to strip every part off the old chassis to fit to the new one, you also happen to have a 1990 excellent condition LR , which you decide to " break" for spares, you then fit every part from the 1990 to the "original" but replaced, 1960 chassis and you have a legal rebuilt 1960 LR but it is in fact a 1990, Illegal ? possibly, but what if you gradually fitted all the later parts to the Old chassis first, Then stripped it down Then fitted the new chassis as far as I can see that could not be seen as illegal as you have in fact rebuilt it. grey area? i dont know but i cant see how legally there could be a problem
