My scuttle panel has faded badly, unfortunately.

I removed it last year and applied autoglym trim restorer stuff (green gunk liquid) and it looked good for all of a week, until it washed off and left me with a dodgy looking bit of plastic again.

Will this product permanently bring it back to it's former glory? Or would it be best to plastidip it?

Here's a 50:50 of when I applied the autoglym stuff, so you can gauge how terrible it was/is!

C4 is really good and will last a very long time IF you prep the surface before application.

It'll need a good thorough clean with an APC or similar then once clean, a wipe down with IPA should do the trick.

Somebody on here as however, sprayed theirs with Plastidip with supposedly good results.

Could try Halfords bumper black have used it on plastic parts with good results over the years as in this detail

I removed my weathered scuttle panel and sprayed it with black Plastidip last summer and it still looks brand new ! It's a 10 minute job to remove and whilst the Plastidip is drying you can clean polish the lower windscreen and paintwork (you won't believe the muck !), and also inspect your wiper motor and linkage. Plastidip is permanent, peelable if you want to remove it or if you mess up, a can costs approx £14 and will do your scuttle and front grilles or whatever several times. Much better in my eyes than repeatedly applying some semi-permanent coating.

I used C4 on my scuttle panel six months ago and is still like new.

Prep is everything. Good clean and then alcohol wipe.

Maguiars endurable gel
Leave for 30 mins then buff up:)

Meguiars Endurance Gel... the tyre product designed for rubber ;) That will look good for a few weeks, or until it rains. It will also attract dust like you wouldn't believe.

C4 is a superb product, that will last for years. But as said, you must prep as the second post has stated.

Thanks for all the replies! I've tried the usual stuff from autoglym and meguiars so I know that they're not a permanent/long lasting solution.

Might give plastidip a try and see what happens. Do I need to prep the panel first e.g remove whatever silicone products might still be on there, before spraying? Or simply wipe it clean and spray?

I washed my scuttle panel down with soapy water and then went over it with tar and glue remover to remove any silicone/wax. I then gave it a light initial dusting with Plastidip and two further heavier coats. It came up like brand new!
