My centre brake light that I purchased/fitted 18 months ago has started to crack :x

Dealers response is that it's still operational so there not willing to exchange under the 2 year parts warranty.

I've still got the original so they have requested that I bring it in and they will see if BMW (UK) will come to my aid.

What a crock of poo. :x

Yep - sales of goods act considers that for something to be fit for purpose, it must be sufficiently durable. So long as it's within reasonable life expectency, this could apply for up to six years.

Yeah thanks chaps.

I'm aware of the act, but what is the matter with these people, are they C R A Z E Y :headbang:

It's like they've had a memo from head office to " **** the customer off to the best of your ability by denying any knowledge of anything and everything "

I'm getting very hot now :x

Worth going back to them and pushing for sure. If you fitted it then they may try the 'it's not been installed correctly' approach...

I've calmed down a bit now as they have agreed to change under warranty, themselves :| . Booked in next week.

The parts guy I've dealt with for years was in today so he had a look at the light and the original I'd removed and sorted it with the suits.

No one mentioned over tightening (yet) but I was careful when fitting and only tightened enough to hold the unit in place, definitely not full chat.

Anyway still a bit of a FAFF
