Groaning noise

Mine is the same. I notice it's less groany if it has been raining (why?)

Car is full of rubber bushes / bearing parts - could be any (or several) of them.

Obvious step is to go right round the car & do all the doors / roof mechanism sections / boot / bonnet with silicone grease - may or may not sort it. Then you are onto the dirty bits under the car. Not just the rubber gaskets - do the bump stops for bonnet & boot too.

Convertibles are nowhere near as rigid as a hard roof car & they absolutely do flex / twist over the bumps, especially if you are at an angle.

I 100% would not recommend going over a bump with the bonnet raised - it's way heavier than you think, and you might twist the mounting points / damage it horribly.

Summers arrived, i know because the speed bumps by my home the car groans from somewhere as i go over. Was tempted to go over bump with bonnet raised, see if it's that.

Perhaps you should put the car in first gear at idle so it crawls forwards. Then, once its rolling, hop out and walk backwards over the speed hump in front of the car whilst looking into the open bonnet. You might discover a whole new source for groaning noises, perhaps some whining noises too. On the other hand, you might hear a squelching and a crunch or two just as all the groaning noises stop very suddenly forever

She might be just the person you’ve been looking for - few people have first-hand (or arm) experience of the expected sounds from under a car in motion. Now, assuming she agrees, is she big enough to substitute for the speed hump altogether? :D

If she can’t find a problem under the car, the next thing you should check is that the cross braces are appropriately torqued at the firewall and the strut towers. Periodically, my Zed creaks over very uneven ground and (so far) it’s been fixed by tweaking them up.

After the amount of issues you had with your car, it's probably just had enough so is groaning in resignation! :poke: :D

My colleague gave me a lift in her manual car today, i had to tell her changing gear...
Shift by the knob, not by the shaft......
