When turning hard right I get an occasional groaning noise as I turn the wheel. I only hear it at low speeds when turning more than 90 degrees. Anyone any guesses?

I wonder if your high pressure hydraulic line is starting to leak

Side note - where are you located?

I had the same that came and went depending on humidity. It's worth reading this with thanks to our friends at Bimmerforums, I lubed all the UJs and other points mentioned (bar the top slip ring) and cured mine.

i have this for a while since fitting new discs and pads then it got less and less over time and now no noise at all - I have a hunch that its the pad was not seated correctly or maybe there was some kind of imperfection on the disc which has now worn down... it only did it when the car has been on a long journey and i turn right at slow speed, there is a long groan then gently tapping the brakes it disappears.
