Grille advice

I've just picked up a 2013 M Sport in Deep Sea Blue - love the colour!

I'm finding the kidney grilles date the car a little and wanting to change. My options are:
- Gloss black grille
- Diamond style grille - black surrounds?
- Matt silver grille

Seeking opinions please. Pictures of examples very welcome.

Before & after on mine. The OEM Black grill replacements from BMW (Approx £50 each) are gloss black surround (Where the original chrome is on the standard grill) and the slats are matt black. I think only Chinese stuff are fully gloss effect but unlikely to fit as snug.

I think that is correct, mine are also gloss surround with matt slats. They are the "Performance" grills, so you get +5 bhp

With the deep sea blue I would go for either the OEM black or matt silver (as per 35is) grills. Personally I don't think the diamond style suits the car, not sure I like them even on the new G29!

Love the transformation - the blacked centre on the lip adds to the overall effect - nice job

I think the black wing mirrors make a big difference too - I'm tempted to do the same on mine.

[ref]tigor[/ref], if you decide to go for matte silver, I still have my original 35is grills - if you're interested I can dig them out and check the condition. To be honest though, I doubt you'd notice the difference from chrome once they're on the car.

Seconding that. Looking really good.

Thanks for the positive remarks on my little cosmetic tweaks. I feel that the black wrap to the door mirrors & lower front bumper all complimented the black front grills and made it look a bit 'less soft'. (Or more 'aggressive' if you like). I suppose with tigors darker blue, a change to a black grill will be a bit less pronounced contrast-wise but the 35i silver grills from tiglon would certainly stand out.

Imo the only way to go is the oem black kidney grilles (chrome delete). Anything else looks cheap.

I’d highly recommend only going for oem grills. The cheap ebay ones dont fit. I tried 3 sets before i gave in and went to BMW.

I used plastidip on my Z3, that lasted well, and easy to remove....alledgedly.
Thinking about doing my Z4 the same way, as I have spare paint :)

Personally I like the original Chrome on the Deep Sea Blue. Gives a nice contrast.
Yep. I get that.

I think the chrome and matt silver look similar and both work with the blue. Mine came with the black slats and chrome frame as peeblezZ4 before photo above shows.

Old thread, buy does anyone have any recommended suppliers for a matt black diamond front grille?

Having fitted the black wheels I think de-chroming the grille is the next phase!
