Greenflag Breakdown Cover

Hello All,

My insurance is up. I am considering getting Greenflag cover as part of my new insurance deal cost £85 includes all the usual stuff. AA as a stand alone want £95 (£125 including legal cover) for similar cover - though not the same.

Anyone one have experience of Greenflag?

Check what age of car 'Greenflag' will cover - I needed cover for my vintage cars and wanted to include that on my normal breakdown cover but some firms cover newer cars only and not the driver - Greenflag might be 16yrs but if you have an 03 Zed you're in the no cover zone for that car.

I cancelled the classic breakdown cover on my classic car insurance policy and after a phone call to the RAC (been with them since 1980) added recovery to get the classics home (just in case the laptop carrying patrol man was under 40 and didn't have the tools for me to fix it!). Its me that the RAC cover regardless of car - which as it turns out can be a 1938 classic.

I have had Green Flag in the the past and had to call them out on Christmas Eve on one occasion. I had managed to lock myself out of an Old Skoda I was using as a runabout. They were quick to come and although the Green Flag guy couldn’t get into the car himself he contacted a local locksmith who sorted me out. So within an hour I was on my way. I am with the RAC now but only because it is included with my insurance.

They have been really good when we or mainly our son has needed them. You pay for the repair or what ever is done to your vehicle and then claim back.
Never had an issue.
The AA got to greedy and after 15 years, we looked elsewhere

I swap between RAC and AA every year, through TopCashBack to get the discount.

For the last three years I've managed to cover the Zed only, with Relay, for around £75 once I get the discount back.

I’ve had previous good service from Britannia Rescue - both at home and on holiday in Europe. Their service was prompt and efficient.

The only reason I dropped service is I’ve got BMW warranty - if that changes I will subscribe again

I get RAC full home start cover with Tesco points, so effectively free of charge. Just in case any of you didn't realise.
