Cherrym and I had registered to take part in a Lions charity event in the Lakes.

We got to have an enjoyable drive there and back (over Hartside) and a chance to see some interesting and well presented cars.

The showers held off and as we got closer to Grasmere it made me look forward even more to the National only a couple of weeks ahead. :D

6 hours of prep - clayed the Zed and applied AutoGlym Super Resin Polish then mr wilks Topaz product topped off with a layer of Wax. Triple clean of my wheels and then a clean and condition of seats and polish of dash and plastics . . . .

My Zed was filthy by the time it got to the show :headbang: but beautiful surroundings - looking forward to the National Meet

Another type of Z . . . . .

I know folk that used these as transport - kick started by using your foot in the engine compartment (Don't think there was an ///M version)

Beautiful Morris 1000 - completely rebuilt with all new parts - 1275 engine, 5 speed gearbox, disc brakes yet looked standard. £15K parts plus 2000 hours of labour! :o

Lovely drive back in the afternoon - very little traffic

Looks great! Beautiful scenery. Love the Lakes.

We were lucky with a good early run from Stanhope to Alston nearly traffic clear but then we came across scores of small 50cc and lightweight motorcycles that could hardly make it up Hartside. They were literally towing each other up the inclines - gave us a laugh but you have to applaud their application   No idea where they were headed - luckily they had headed off well before Melmerby.

The run into the Lakes was relaxed and you're right - it's easy to forget just how lovely this part of the UK is - it was a glorious :D

:D The Great British Summer - Lovely shots in one of my favourite Villages in the lakes - if you go back stop in at the Jumble room in the evening - one of my favourite restaurants anywhere ... http://www.thejumbleroom.co.uk/The_Jumble_Room.html

what i like about it is the Head Chef/Owner is a Heating Engineer who taught himself as he told me..... and gets himself named as one of the Best Restaurants in the North west of England ( Cue someone from elsewhere in the country saying.... not difficult etc....)
