Got it - long day though!

Well, after a little delay waiting for parts over Christmas, I drove down my 2.0i Sport and came home with my AUC 2008 3.0si Sport today.

Hit the M62 during rush hour both ways (should have used the M6). Arrived 10.30am but had an unexpected wait until 4pm as the wheels needed a refurb after exchanging tyres.

Not too bad though as a courtesy car, lunch and a bit of browsing in retail parks occupied the time.

Very pleased with the deal and the car - but Stratus Grey doesn't catch the eye as much as my old Silver Grey - Looks very stealthy though with it's piano and black interior.

maybe some work on the paint will bring it up a bit - we shall see. . .

That M62 is dreadful - left Warrington just before 5pm and didn't Make Wetherby until 7.30pm! Stretch back to Newcastle was much more pleasant however.

Too dark to take photos - will post asap.

:driving:

I'm sure it will look great once you've worked your magic on it - always takes a while to get used to a Zed in a different colour

I've got stratus grey and you will be surprised how the colour changes depending on the lighting.

In pure sunlight the car has a light blue tint, whilst sat a different angle a orange tint.

Haven't got pic to show "blue" but here's "orange"

I love the colour!

Congrats Paul

I have only ever had a good look at Jan's but it's a lovely colour. Wait till you get some sun on it - 'amazeballs' is a currently vaunted positive way of describing it :D

Presume roadster as somebody mentioned wind deflector, but can you confirm you have not moved to the dark side.

Also......

Hello All!

I'm new to the forum having done the deed after years of admiring the Z4C and chopped in my E92 325 in for an 08 Stratus Grey 3.0Si. I pick it up next week!

Welsh_z - love your car! Are those 19" CSL alloys on yours with standard tyres? I also like the stubby ariel.

I'll post pics once I pick the car up!

By the way thanks for a great forum - I did alot of research off here before buying and it really helped.

Paul

Good choice Paul. Love stratus grey. I'm sure you'll enjoy the extra performance of the 3.0. I certainly did when i moved up from my old 2.5. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Encouraged by the comments on Stratus Grey - it looks a little drab and lifeless to me but I'll spend some time cleaning and polishing - there are some amazing underlying hues there - bit like pearlescent paint? We shall see. . .need to get some protection on it. Perhaps a change of colour with the font grills will lift it a bit?

No problem marypoppins - you've got a fabulous looking and capable Zed there - enjoy it and see you on the meets.

Got to take a look at the wind deflector - just when I'd got my 'Just Roadster' version sorted out (and the right way round bladeowner  ) I've now got the OE version. I may be showing my ignorance here but I seem to have a piece of the wind deflector for fitting between the roll hoops in the boot and one attached to the underside of the boot lid - two parts? Anyone help? maybe it will make sense when I get to look again - it was late and dark when I eventually headed home.

Got lit footwells! Like that very much but will have to keep the vacuum cleaner on standby. Also like the cockpit with it's dark interior. The instrument lights come on when I put the key in - did my old Zed do that - don't remember - don't think so? The new fog lights don't seem any more effective than the old ones which were full of condensation, though the dip beam is much better - with headlight washers are they uprated?

Nice to have the capability to drive on the torque - made the trip home on the motorway (when it eventually cleared) a breeze (no cruise though). The heated seats were a wonderful luxury. haven't used the park assist yet - no screen to show it so I guess its just the peeps then?

Well, lots to learn (will have to get the handbook out) and confidence to build with the new Zed - grew to love my old Zed - hope the same applies to this one - certainly beginning to understand the appeal of that 3 litre engine - so capable everywhere it's going to be a delight to get to know!

Will keep you informed and post photos soon.

:driving:

Congrats Paul. I love my si too :D look forward to some of pics of it! Agree with foot well lights - I really need to get the hover out. Ha!

Congratulations, but seriously how long does it take to put some pictures up :D

There's a huge amount of greedy yellow fleck in the paint. It's very nice and quite rare.

Sounds like you may have two wind deflectors Paul ? You should have one deflector that either goes between the roll hoops or on the underside of the boot when not in use. If you do you could make a swift £100 selling the extra one...

My dash does not illuminate when I put the key in - want some of that !

Do you have xenons in this car ? If not then perhaps the last owner pit better bulbs in and wound the level up a bit.

Park assist just beeps - increasing in speed of beep the closer you get until it goes continuous at about 4cm. Pretty good at sensing high kerbs behind too. If you get an Intravee then you can have it display the distance of obstructions from each sensor in cm when you reverse... Though just numbers, no visual representation.
