Got CDV Modified - testimonials

Just got my CDV replaced with one from Zeckhausen on my '06 3.0si.

The results were fantastic and completely eliminated the kangarooing between first and second gear. Also smoothed out all shifts in general and made every shift much more predictable.

Best way I can describe it is that this is how the car "should" feel. Repeatable shifts and no jerkiness. Previously I'd have to slip the clutch between 1st and 2nd if I wanted to guarantee a smooth shift. Only did this when I had a passenger but lived with the awkwardness when driving alone.

Now j look back and can't help but think I've been hurting the car with unrepeatable shifts and roughy transitions at low gears

Too those who have said thy didn't notice much of a difference... I don't see how you can not tell!!!

I don't think you will find many on here who regret having done this or saying it makes little improvement.

I've got a Zeckhausen CDV sitting in my kitchen at the moment whilst I try and find someone locally I can trust to fit it to the 'M'.

Just recently had my CDV replaced with Zeckhausen one and i've noticed how much better the gear shifts are and the ride,so now the GF has to admit that it was the car and not my driving

I really want to do this mod but can't seem to find anyone local to me! Any recommendations; I'm based near Richmond, Kingston, Twickenham.

I have spoken to Keith at Orminstow BMW and he's away until the end of July :(

All the independents I spoke to around west london (well all two of them)... either didnt know about it and claimed it couldnt be removed or claimed that I wouldnt notice the difference :o

Two I asked were Gilberts for BMW (Ealing) and West3 Ltd (By Acton Town Tube)

ended up doing it myself with the help of my boss...

I went for a Brake Fluid Flush and they changed out the valve for me free of charge. I think there is some relationship between clutch and brake fluid reservoir which makes switching out the valve a "by the way" type of job.

That's something to consider for you to negotiate when getting the next brake fluid flush.

I noticed the fresh brake fluid made the brakes feel much more responsive and "tight". Well worth the $120 I paid for everything

It was a great change on the 3.0 I had, a very small change on a M though hence I never did mine.

If I am really bored one day I might do it though, just to get that tiny difference.

Can it really be that hard to find a garage that either knows about the CDV or has even heard of one? I'm banging my heard against a wall here with juddery gear changes between 1st and 2nd.... The gear box on my old Cooper S was more slick than the Z4....

Yeah i was wondering this today! Had the CDV in my 330 and wondered why the gearchange at low speeds was a tad notchy. Could this be down to the CDV then? As my 330 was fine on gear changes, but a lot more mileage than the Z.

Umm same as on the E46 then. Bit strange but i will stick Royal Purple synchromax in mine. Too new for it to go bang yet
