Gorilla Glue !

Yes and yes. I've seen my sister glue back a rather weighty glass table once.......it happened to get knocked over again and surprisingly it held up! Its rather strong stuff. Just make sure you don't go OTT with the stuff. You don't need a lot to get it to work and it bonds really well.

Brilliant many thanks !

Do not, whatever you do, get it on your hands, bloody awful stuff to shift off skin if you do use it. However I wouldn't on the car, it is good gear but after bonding some stone, which is a use for it, late last year it has now failed, and I reckon it's because rain has got to it over time, personally I wouldn't trust it on the front of a car.

You can get a caulking gun tube of 'Stixall' which I have used around a leaking soil pipe, on roof tiles, bonded plastic exterior trim, gutter repairs etc and it is far better imo as you can even apply it in the wet, and it stands wet, much better. Also gorilla glue goes off in the bottle after a few months, goes hard and brittle.

Just my opinion.

Dont be lazy and bodge it, the clips that hold it on properly cost pennies, its not a big deal to fix properly, you can do it

Id use Epoxy personally... The plastic will break before it does and it gives you plenty of time to adjust and wipe off (if that's what you want). Get it from poundland!

I cant for the life of me understand why bmw didn't just do that in the first place

Cheaper to manufacture and put together. And if the plastic breaks on impact then that's two parts knackered instead of one (bumper too).

I'd take the bumper off and have a look - not hard and doesn't take long. The only tricky but is making sure you don't break the side clips at the top and there's a thread on here that has great instructions for removal. At least you will then find out what is broken and if it is replaceable. IIRC the points where the grille attaches are moulded parts of the bumper, so if one is broken it can't be replaced. If that's the case you can use some decent clear silicone adhesive - it's really long lasting & resilient, but flexible, invisible and easily removed in the future if needs be. I had bagpipes and wheel caps held on / in with it on my last car and none of the, fell off despite getting drenched, frozen and mucky.

Thanks guys will proceed with caution think it will be bumper off and a proper repair - thanks for all your help x
