Goodyear or Goodyear?

I'm just about to pull the trigger on some non-runflat Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 R18's on the front and have noticed the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance... Supposedly just as good in the wet, but more economical, quieter and cheaper! Also, a Best Buy in AutoExpress and Which.

Has anyone tried these?

Also, do the F1's have rim protection? Some sellers claim they do, others don't... :?

...and what about the Assymetric 3's?
 
F1 Assymetric 2 is the current flagship product designed with performance in mind rather than any other criteria. Having said that it's old hat now and currently going through the process of being replaced.

Efficient grip performance is designed to slot into the more generic mid range vehicle type, it is however a far more modern than the F1Assym2 and lots of the performance based criteria is the same as it's bigger older brother. Fuel claims are based on it being a more modern lighter product with lower rolling resistance.

The new F1 Assymetric 3 is only available so far in a very limited number of sizes and won't be in full production until well into 2016.

Thank you. That all makes sense. I can't wait until next year, so it looks like old hats. :|
 
Although I did refer to them as old hat they are still an excellent tyre and were state of the art in their day so not a poor choice by any stretch of the imagination. :driving:
 
Efficient grips are not as good as the F1's even though the F1 is an older tyre.

My Focus ST back in the day came standard with Efficient Grips and they were utter rubbish compared to the Eagle F1's!

Stick with tried and tested tyres for the zed if you can :)

The F1 AS3 won't be leaps and bounds ahead of the AS2 I wouldn't think so you should be fine. :)

I agree, we had some Efficient grips fitted to our 330D years ago and remember being disappointed, Eagle F1s are superb by comparison and have used them on almost all of my cars since.
