is there a difference in performance between the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 & 6s

If your name is Chris Harris or Tiff Needell, maybe. Otherwise, I doubt it.

I stopped worrying about small differences between tyres a long time ago and just stick with reputable brands that are popular for whatever car I'm driving. If I went on a track, I might have a different view.

That's my opinion as well. The difference between all the leading tyres is small. I will buy whatever is on the best offer at the time.

However, I'd never buy budget tyres. The difference between a leading brand tyre and a budget tyre is huge.

I've been running Bridgestone Potenza Sports. Grip levels are really good. They are a little softer on the sidewalls to other tyres, but not as soft as Goodyear Asymmetric.

A full set of 20" tyres was on offer for £700 when Michelin were over £1000.

Final questions guys as previous posts on the subject are confusing (To me at least)
Does the G29 have tpms valves? If so are they necessary and if so can the ones on the replaced tyres be used in the new?

Just asking as a pensioner trying to save money to keep STMBO happy no doubt so she can spend any money saved.

Yes, the car has TPMS, the tyre place may want to swap the valves at >£10 per valve but not the sensors. When I replaced the MPSS's they asked if I wanted to swap them out, I said no thanks and then worried about the decision, but so far they're not leaking and why should they as they're only three years old.

Thanks. WhenI had the car into the dealership for its MOT they said they would price match any deal I found which I will take the up on. Nicer surroundings and free coffee and cakes closes the deal for me. It will be interesting to see what options they offer. The best quotes I have had so far is £745 for four fully fitted and balanced. It makes no mention of Tpms but assume that option may be extra

It seems the Asy 6 has gone back to earlier wider block on the tread, narrower channels..
The Asy 5 had quite large gaps between the blocks, i could put my finger in the gap, quite surprised when fitted some years ago.
I thought these will wear out quicker or they made the rubber harder, which i did test by pushing finger nail into rubber. Asy 5 was harder than the Asy 3 it replaced.
I thought the 5 was noisier being harder once first mm or so worn..
Will be fitting 6 on rear soon. 5 lasted about 25k miles. (Camskill £135)

Just priced 4 fully fitted at Halfords for £661 with an additional £7 each if TPMS valves fitted in black Friday sale. They are the cheapest I have found and have been asked by my local dealership to send them the lowest quote I can find and they have said they should be able to price match. We will see.

PS Camskill for tyres only comes to £655

I had my tyres from Halfords, they do have some great deals from time to time. The only issue I had was that the wheel balancing weights came off about a week after fitting and I ended up going back to get them all rebalanced.

👍 The time for new boots is fast approaching so hopefully BMW will price match Halfords so I get the benefit of cheap tyres with BMW service, free coffee, biscuits and usually cake.

Found my Goodyear F1 Eagle Asymmetric 6s for £661.56 for 4 tyres fully fitted (Extra £7 per tyre if I want TPMS valves, don't know if I need them?) at National Tyres and Halfords said they will price match.
Emailed LLoyds at Newcastle yesterday with the figures and a screenshot of the deal. Now we wait and see.
