Of all tyres ive tried in the last 5 years the SportMaxx RT + RT2 were way out in front in terms of audible noise in cabin at any speed , they were really quiet & the Z4 i had at the time (ZMR with 19 inch genuine CSLs) felt very comfortable & compliant on them , id certainly have no hesitation over buying them again ( for those remotely interested in tyres Dunlop are now owned & manufactured by Goodyear as are Fulda )

Going to have to go out for a drive now and see how quiet they are, I was too busy comparing the ride with my previous runflats to notice the noise reduction....

That certainly sounds like a good price for the ASY 5s, I considered those, the PS4 and the Uniroyal Rainsport 3s which I ended up going with on my Zed. A full staggered set cost me £398 fitted etc.

Any of the above were better than the Potenza RF tyres on there!!!!!

However just yesterday on my new car, I had a set of staggered PS4 fitted for £440 which I think was a great deal. Also through F1 Autocentres.

Worth noting that the rears are actually 245 rather than 255 fitted on the rears on an E85.

Indeed.. The Vredesteins are the best performing tyre ive used over the last 10 years when you take in all aspects of use, great grip wet or dry, decent wear and comfortable and quiet, respectable price too, very hard to beat imho

Sounds like a great price. Have you got them fitted yet and can make any comments on road noise? Or anyone as I'm getting these tyres tomorrow but now considering cancelling and going for the Dunlop due to road noise as I go on the motorway quite a bit

Finally got them fitted. They are neither louder nor quieter than the ZZ5's I had previously fitted.

To be honest any tyre is going to be fairly loud - they are well into the boot and practically in your ear when sitting there.

Can recommend F1 Autocentres - £200 odd for those size tyres fitted is really good (more like what you would expect to pay for the fronts).

Ive recently returned my Assy 5s to black circles, the noise they were generating was bloody awful, on ultra smooth surfaces they were fine but anything less than new tarmac and they made an awful racket, shame as they gripped the road beautifully, moved onto Michelins and much better although somewhat ironically still noisier than the runflats I removed..seems to be a lot of reports on forums of this happening with Goodyears which is odd as in reviews they are generally rated as one of the quieter tyres ..anyway just a word of warning, you could get a set that are just fine, the offer with black circles was £411 for all 4 corners fitted so was a good deal

Well I have to say I removed the original Bridgestone run-flats from mine and fitted a full set of Assy 5s and found them to be incredibly quiet in comparison.
Cannot remember which model you have (though this is in the E85/6 section?). Mine is an E89, perhaps that makes a difference.
Maybe it is indeed pot luck?
Then again, there are so many factors at play.......not least for me having spent 23 years working on military jets which cannot have made my hearing any better. :roll:
I wonder if something as simple as wheel design could affect resonant frequencies too?

I'm in an e89, got to admit i was shocked at how loud they were, without a doubt the noisiest tyre ive ever driven on, on really bad surfaces it was so intrusive i couldn't drive just for pleasure, i do think i had a bad set though as I'm pretty sure they shouldn't be like that, some reports on other forums pointing to tyres made in Goodyears Thailand facility not being up to standard, how true that is i don't know
