Good or bad rear stock speakers?

Jsut bought a Z4MR 07 and I think it must be lacking a specific hi-fi option as although it has 6 disc changer and "hi-fi pack", the speakers behind the seats are awful. I've heard much better sounding speakers in anther Z4. is there a specific option for better speakers behind the seats? I suppose it'll just be a case of picking some new speakers and replacing them

Are there any that anyone can recommend that fit in the spaces behind the seats?

On that thought, has anyone replaced the front speakers? These are better but I'm sure there might be better speakers out there..
 
After some reading up I understand its gonna be either a 6 speaker or 10 speaker "hi-fi" system - what's the easiest way to work out which one I have?
 
Apparently I have the "LOGIC 7 HI - FI UPGRADE" - so why are the rear speakers so poor when I change fading from front to back?!
 
Other people will give you better answers but from what I understand each speaker works on a different range. Tweets tone, subwoofers base, etc. Maybe they are just midrange?
 
I've only got the standard setup, but it's 8 speakers. Not a lot of bass but does the job for what I use it for which is mostly radio.

Might look at upgrading one day if i've got the time/money/energy :D
 
The speakers behind the seats are indeed useless. I was convinced that mine weren't even connected. They are 10 Ohm speakers and the HiFi amp can't drive them. I replaced the speakers with JL Audio 6W0-4 subwoofers (they directly replace the factory speakers without changes to the enclosure) but had to add a 300W Coustics amp to drive them. I have a remote knob under the dash just above the ashtray that allows me to vary the volume on the subwoofers. I rarely have it set above half volume!
 
Three options:

Base Stereo = 6 speakers
Upgraded Hifi = 10 speakers
Carver / DSP = 10 speakers + proper amps
 
I have a hunch the the rear subs run off the front speaker signal, fading to the rear seems to make the rear subwoofers quieter.

Suggest switching DSP to Jazz preset which seems to help a lot and then tweaking bass and treble to suit.
