Good news, bad news & a little question :)

Good news: just replaced the corroded and worse for wear rear brake disks & pads with shiny new MTec drilled and grooved thingys.

Bad news: I acquired myself a piece of the rear n/s road spring as a memento of the occasion (half expected if I'm honest).

Brings me to my question. As Red is an SE (with 18" rims) I wouldn't mind lowering him a tad but I don't want a harsh ride either & there's more than a few speed bumps round here to consider.

So option a) buy pair of replacement standard springs (BMW or is there a better option), or option b) set of lowering springs (H&R/eibach?). If i opt for the lowering route, do I have to replace shocks too? ... and what do I need to be careful of.

I've seen threads on this, but I'm still a little unsure. Thanks for reading :)
