Golf starter motor replacement

Anyone done it? The Golf would not start and I have had to hit the starter motor to get it to start over the last few years so better replace it.

Looking on google it seems that the bolts are part of the engine mounting so was wondering if it is really fiddly with trying to keep the engine in place or ok.

as far as I remember the majority of the weight is on the other 2 mounts, you can just push or rock the engine forward and aft to work the bolts out once you loosen them ! Good luck
 
Yes, that mount is mainly for torsion, you could put a small trolley jack under the engine at the front end, , it doesn't take much force to keep it up , a few kilo's of force
 
Ok, will order the starter motor than and have a go at it. Seem to be about £70, so not bad at all.
 
See sig - Clipper 1993. Had it for 20 years now, done 10k miles in that time :D
