I'm off to see this car tonight,

Have had a lot of discussion with the owner, only 2 owners had the rear springs replaced and the window regulators. Full service history

I'm going there with the knowledge that at some point I will need to roof motor changing, my thinking is that if it goes up and down with no error codes but only needing a slight nudge to go up then it's a chance worth taking?

We've agreed on a price of £4400, he won't come down from there so if it's as good in the flesh I'll be putting a deposit down on it

Thoughts? It has the CD changer so one of the first things I'll be doing is getting an AUX cable fitted and the alloys refurbed

Someone else on here has been to see this, let me see if I can find the thread...

I don't expect all sellers to be car nerds but stating '2.5L V6' wouldn't instil me with confidence...

Also, what sort of a statement is "Roof needs a nudge going up, but then the manual says it does anyway". Really? Can't say I've ever had to do that with mine.

Oh right thanks if you find it would be interesting to see what they thought

Not sure why they put the V6 on there, I have spoken to the owner on the phone and he seems pretty clued up, his partner has just had a baby (I can confirm that is the case as it was screaming in the background) seems to be genuinely gutted to have to sell the car.

I've seen a couple so if I don't think it's right I will walk away, I thought it was at a good price what with mileage and the fact it has heated seats and rear sensors etc

£4400 isn't crazy cash for that :? wheels are well & truly goosed but theyre a easy fix .
Roof needs a nudge  wouldn't worry about that tbh , from what little knowledge i have on the subject it would appear they can last forever or last 12 months

Thanks, I've read lots of different posts about the roofs on these and like you say it would appear it's kind of hit or miss. I imagine if the roof motor had been replaced it would be more £5k.

I won't know for certain till I go see the car in the flesh so I guess we will see. My view is the wheels look bad but nothing a refurb can't sort out which again like you said won't be too much to sort out.

Looks nice. I always nudge my roof up and let it drop on to my hand every time it comes back down. Mine doesn't need it, but it just seems more mechanicaly sympathetic to give it a little help.

let me know if you go for it I have a rear central brake light in the garage - now surplus to requirements - PM me if you go for the car

I went, I saw, I put a deposit down!

I'm picking her up early next week!

Can't wait to pick her up! She was clean a few marks but to be expected. The paint is flaking off the alloys but no curbing. The roof needs a push when going up but isn't too bad, seller was a nice bloke so he was happy as was I

Congratulations! We'll be expecting your pics next week - the ones on the advert don't count.

Enjoy  :driving:

I bought my Z last year and also had to nudge the roof when I first got it. It kept getting worse and finally the roof motor completely died a couple months into it. I think part of the problem is the catches, try lubing the rollers where the roof connects to the top of the windshield and the make sure the latches are moving free. I don't know if that would have helped me to not have to replace the motor, but I thought I would pass that info along. I hope you never have to replace it because it is a pain in the ass to do yourself and it costs a lot to have someone do it for you. Good luck!

Thanks everyone, once I pick her up and get her nice and clean and waxed I'll be putting some pictures up :)

Thanks for the tip on the roof, I guess those are the chances you take knowing the roof and the motors on these do need replacing. I will certainly be putting some lube on the rollers
