Going to be listing my 3.0Si, remove Scorpion or leave it on?

I’m going to be listing my 3.0Si in the coming weeks, once it’s had a fresh mot and the sun has started to come out more frequently.

It seems that the less modified an E85 is the wider the market audience, so I guess the question is… is it worth the hassle of swapping out the Scorpion cat back, selling that separately, and putting a standard exhaust back on?

So, two questions, would the scorpion put you off if you were looking for an E85?

How much is the Scorpion likely to be worth?

Opinions welcomed

Many thanks.

Unless the Scorpion is worth a lot (and won't take 6 months to find a buyer for), or you already have a standard exhaust to put back on, I probably wouldn't bother. It definitely wouldn't put me off.

I like a standard car, but I don't mind if a car has easily reversible changes.

If I was you, and I still have the original exhaust, just mention on the advert that it comes with the sale if they want it. That way you'll attract both people that like the sound of the Scorpion and those who want originality.

no experience of a scorpion, but as long as its not offensively loud or going to fail an MOT test i'll just leave it on, and throw the old exhaust into the sale as well if you still have it.

Ditto.

If I was buying I'd think, "well that's one mod I don't have to do". Hard to argue with a little extra aural drama.

Defo take it off - car won't sell if you don't!!

This has nothing to do with me wanting to buy your Scorpion exhaust. :D

Agree with most comments..the 3.0si is in demand so a good one will sell pretty easily with minor mods like that.as mentioned many will see it a plus point

I think financially it makes sense to take it off, as I can’t see the car achieving a higher price with it fitted in the wider market.

I guess it’s a case of how much would I get over and above the cost of a standard exhaust and is it worth the hassle after fitting costs etc.

Thanks for all the input, the car didn’t come with the standard exhaust so it’s a case of offer the Scorpion for cash plus standard exhaust or just sell the car ‘as is’

I guess the question is how much is a scorpion worth and can you remove it yourself ?

If not, I’d just sell it with. Can’t see it putting anyone off and for the sake of a couple of hundred is it worth the hassle ?

I’d keep it on. Save yourself the hassle. It’s a decent exhaust so don’t think you’ll have any issues finding a buyer with it on.

I don't think it would put many buyers off. That said, I don't think many would pay a higher price with it over standard.
I have a 3.0si with (I believe) an OEM exhaust....I could be persuaded into a part exchange, cash your way. I see your based in Bath, i'm only down the road in West Oxfordshire. I could drive to you/your preferred garage/whatever, have the exhausts swapped over? Maybe take this offline via a PM?

The only thing that might be an issue for younger buyers is the insurance element, i.e. it may be a lot more to ensure.

Not a problem for me, but it may restrict the market place for the car, however if there are enough takers it makes little diffrence.

Hi,

There is someone else who’s been interested for a while, so I’m in contact with them currently, but I’ll let you know if they don’t want to take it further. I’ve also contacted my local garage (just around the corner) to see what they’d charge for doing the swap.

I use them a fair bit, and they’re not rip off merchants. I’ll update when I know more

I'm 22 with a 3.0si coupe with a Eisenman quad exhaust and insurance was £580 for the year with 4 years no claims, I was 21 when I took out the insurance.
