Going camping with a z4

Im going to be camping at Silverstone this weekend and planning on going in the zed, which I was looking forward to, but after looking at the weather forecast im not so sure taking the zed is a good idea. It has forecast light to heavy rain for most of the weekend and if it ends up being a muddy field I may have to have a rethink. Has anybody any experience or horror stories of taking a z4 camping and it being muddy? What do you think yay or nay?

be reet, i often take mine camping, never got stuck, and if you do just have some fun and get people to push you out.

just make sure you pack well, its like jenga trying to fit everythign in there lol

 Yeah, well thats my next problem. Just rang the campsite, they said its a relatively flat field so I might just risk it. Its funny it was used as a wedding car last week and now a camping vehicle this week, diverse or what.

the extra 2 inches in the boot does prove usefull, as long as you dont want the roof down lol
Does it, I always thought it looked a bit pointless but ive never had the boot half full as yet, so never needed to use it.

I once went for a weeks camping holiday in a 1974 MGB Roadster, which had a boot rack - you just have to be organised

If I could get 2 weeks of camping gear for a cross Europe trip into an Exige, a Z4 is no problem. If it's like the Exige, lots of small bags is the secret

Thanks for the replies, its not the boot space im bothered about, its the trying to get on and off a muddy field with the weather taking a turn for the worst.

I know, I think we got carried away. You should have no problem getting off any mud, and if you do you'll always find a willing helper, or you can make them willing by giving them food/beer

Went to Le Mans in June had the same worries as i have not camped at LeMans for a few years and not with the Z but it was fine she survived OK managed to get all the gear in just :o but the campsite was a dust bowl full of broken glass.

Will be going to Silverstone myself this weekend driving down early Fri morn but i have opted for the comfy camping with a large pre erected tent with lights and airbeds so just roll up and check in still concerened over the mud but fingers crossed supposed to be OK Sat/Sun

If you have the little hooks on the wind deflector in the roll over hoops invest in a suit/jacket bag, I hang a couple of shirts/t-shirts in a bag on the hook with the seat right back to take a bit of the weight, saves a surprising amout of suitcase space

Go for it. It's only mud and water after all so just embrace the situation if it does rain and go for the grasstrack look

Thanks for the replies, im definately going in the zed now... made up my mind although I didnt have much of a choice anyway.

Gaza - Id love to go to lemans, gonna have to do it one day, spa is another one that I want to do a road trip to sometime. We looked at the pre-erected tents but thought they were a bit expensive at £80 for the weekend, then again we have only paid 30 between 2 of us and will probably have to dig a hole to take a s**t

Z4 do not have good ground clearance. Your car may get stuck if the field gets wet and soft.

I've taken mine on loads of campsites and never had a problem except last winter when i got stranded in one due to the snow.

As has been said, raise the roof storage shelf for a little extra, soft bags and tons of stuff can be put behind the seats
