After 7years with 02 I've decided to go pay as you go.
Going to buy a phone, upgrade when I want, cancel when I want.
Well that's the plan......
Anyone else on GiffGaff (or similar) and got any feedback?

I used GiffGaff and never had a problem other than no reception (they use O2) at my house. Fro that reason I went with T-Mobile PAYG which was similar and better reception for me. I pay £26 per 6-months for free internet and to be honest I rarely make phone calls (receive a few) so it's cheap as chips.

was going to go with giffgaff a few months back but was hearing tonnes of horror stories. in the end i managed to get a sweet deal for phones4u on a new phone so went to orange who just called me this morning to say ive been selected for a free upgrade to 4g and gave me unlimited txt and calls plus boosted my data to 1gb all on £31 a month :D

Cool!
I'm on 02 now and have no issues with reception in my area so that's cool. I know it's different for different parts of the country.

My only issue is do I keep my current iPhone 4S, or buy something else?

My thoughts are if something new comes along I like I can sell a handset and buy a new one at anytime. Just the initial purchase of a new handset is pricey (that's why most people go on contract).

Hmmmm

I have been on the GiffGaff £10 a month thing for over a year now and more than happy with the deal. In that time the network has gone down twice... once for over a day due to a flood but I am fairly sure that effected O2 as well as GiffGaff uses O2 (it says O2 in the top left of my iPhone not GiffGaff).

All in all been happy with the service and deal

oh and if anyone is going to order a sim do it through this link so I get some payback and you get £5 free credit

Unfortunately my company dont pay my phone bill, and if they supplied me with one id still have to pay, then claim back work call's from personal.

Never heard of giffgaff. :|

Nor had i until February, when a guy at work mentioned it.
£12 get 250 UK minutes, unlimited UK texts and unlimited Internet for one month is the deal that suits me
Currently im paying £34 a month, not getting half as good as that deal.

yeah tbh i probably make about 40mins a month personal calls, only really phone my girlfriend lmfao

I'm seriously thinking of leaving 02 and going for a network that provides unlimited data, how does gif gaf compare with 3?

I'm on Three. I don't phone out much so I just reduced mine from 300min contract to 200mins with 5000 texts and all you can eat data for £12.90 a month on a pay monthly, 1 month contract sim only. Reception can be an issue occasionally in some areas but generally for unlimited data it's good and the data speed can sometimes be faster than my home broadband.

I've been with GiffGaff for about 9 months and they've been ace. Just set up a direct debit for a £15 goodybag every month and there's more minutes than incan use, unlimited texts and (most importantly) unlimited data.

I've found them to be brilliant value and doubt I'll ever sign another 'normal' phone contract again. Cheaper to buy a smartphone cash and get a giffgaff sim :)

If your happy with the network coverage/3G speeds on your current O2 deal then you will be just as happy on GiffGaff as it uses the O2 network so if your going from O2 to GiffGaff nothing should change.... apart from having unlimited data for a cheap price of course!

The only difference between the major networks and GiffGaff to me is that the customer service is done by people on the network i.e. you can sign up to be a CS representative and help people out with quires for which you get paid. I think if you have a problem you have to log it online rather than ring up but I have always had a speedy response. There is a user forum as well which if there are any problems on the netwrok etc there are always well kept up to date threads about them on there.

Theres 3 of us in the house on GiffGaff, using it for almost a year and never had a problem. Don't forget all GiffGaff to GiffGaff calls are free too. Not sure it's relevant but you won't be able to tether another device to it as the Personal HotSpot feature is disabled by default.

GiffGaff does use the O2 network
On an iPhone you may not get access to all the Apple iPhone facilities ,in particular personal hotspot as mentioned by gaz

I've referred 3 people to giffgaff based on good feedback from people at work and all of them are happy. Seems to suit casual users very well.
