Getting the front on jack stands

Hi all, I know this has been asked plenty but i've not really found an answer as of yet.
I need to change the front wishbone rear bushes on my 2004 E85, and was wondering how's best to jack up the car to get jack stands under the jacking points on the sills. What other components can I safely jack onto to lift the front?
I also small ramps I can drive onto, so will be able to access most of the underside of the engine.

Use the rear jacking points, and raise to a height that you can get the jacks under the fronts. I would leave the wheels on (but bolts loosened) until you can get both sides done.
 
Each rear side would have to be jacked up to a pretty big height to do it this way wouldn't they? Also, this wouldn't put excess twisting force on the chassis would it?
 
I've done it this way for a fair few times - TBH unless you have an ///M, they don't have a front jacking point, so without some form of lift the only other method I've heard of is lifting by the axles - which is, IMO far more risky!
 
Im not the right person to answer this 'cos Ive got a 2 post lift!! BUT,....you dont need to put it on axle stands to do this. Get it up on some ramps. Can be done easily without jacking up and certainly without removing the wheels.
I did both front bushes today on a 2005 z4 and it took me 25 mins from start to finish.
Not sure where you are, but you can use my lift if you like. If you are anywhere near Chesterfield and J29/29A/30 of the M1.

Appreciate the offer but Chesterfield is a bit of a trek for me, but I was under the impression I had to have the front wheels off the floor/ramps/weight of the car off the wheels. Makes it a lot simpler to know I don't have to, thanks! :thumbsup:
 
Bmw jack on the rear to get jack stands on the front.
I bought a silverline jack and couldnt get it high enough. Used a friends bmw jack and it worked fine

I recently did this by using a piece of wood and jacking immediately to the left/right of the front jacking point depending on which side of the car i was on. i.e. if doing this on the drivers side, use the sill approx 6 inches to the left of the drivers side front jacking point.

I have read that a few people have used a hockey puck with a groove cut into it which would sit nicely on the sill seam, which is my next plan, as the block of wood was pretty beat after a few uses !
