Getting latest sat/nav DVD for E85 Z4?

i have the modded map disc with a ///M splash screen.... again its been fine since 2010??? what do you mean a rouge f/w disc?? im confused, sorry!! im going to guess ALOT of us are running these discs...... how many units have actually been bricked??? not many at all??
 
I run a modded map disc with speed cameras as an additional POI but there is no way I'd use a modded f/w update. These things are created by enthusiastic hackers (in the proper sense of the word) who reverse engineer the existing f/w and mod it. It only takes a minor error in the code and you can get locks, or worst case, a damaged unit. I guess it's like everything else, you take your chances. A modded map disc doesn't update the nav computer code so unlikely anything is going to happen other than a hang if the disc is of an iffy quality.
 
Thanks for the heads up guys on the Google ad. I thought it had been fixed.

I'm sure many run illegal discs and that's up to them. We just need to not overtly advertise and link, else the mapping companies take exception as they are of course losing revenue.
 
Sorry to drag up an old thread guys, I just updated my firmware to V32 4 1/00, but the map disk I have is the one sold with the car in 2005, I cant use the postcode search or the 3d view, I suspect this is due to the map disk, can anyone shed some light on this?

I did activate "perspective" in the hidden menu, so it must be the old disk?

That’s a firmware issue not map update.

Should be easy to find online, bit harder to do from memory if it has already been updated if all you want is the logo change.
