Gel coat fibreglass

Bearing in mind I have all the stuff I used on the bimmer what's the process to bring up a dull ish he'll coat car?

I now for a fact how this was made and I can say 100% the lacquer and paint are not hugely thick so I don't want to go too abrasive.

A friend said he tried claying his and it didn't seem to do anything.

I was thinking that would maybe get come of that t-cut colour stuff. Or just wash/blackhole/seal

I use megs 3 step... And does an amazing job bringing paint back to live without the a full DA polish.

Sorry damn iPhone autocorrect was at it again and I didn't check before I posted as I was in a hurry.

No pics but I can get some if need be. I was just wondering what the best way to get a good shine on gelcoat is.

Fibreglass with a gel coat colour is made up in a different way to painted metal car. The colour is not put onto metal in a primer --> colour ---> lacquer order like a metal car. Instead it's done from top to bottom so a thin lacquer is sprayed to the inside of a mould first. The colour layer is then added and can be very very thin and the the structural fibreglass is added last. Once dry it's all taken out of the mould and basically buffed up a bit.

I don't want to start removing layers as its all too easy to get through to the fibreglass without trying as I found when I tried fixing some of it.

So really what's the best way to get a damn good shine.

Claying seems pointless. (Doesn't seem to do anything)

Would the poor boys black hole work on this substrate or am I basically just best to polish with an all in one quick detailer
 
What have to got that has this gel coat? A bodykit?

Clay wouldnt help... The key to a good shine is the polish... And the flawless base... The wax just protects this. From what you are saying sounds like you'll need a filler polish.... Then wax.

its my westfield. the whole bodywork is fibreglass. I want to sell it so a damn good clean is in order (as it alwys is anyway)

no one expects the bodywork on these to be perfect in the same way a BMW etc but there is no reason why it cant be clean and shiney.
