Gearbox Warning Light

Hi all,

I have just been for a blast in my Z and early in the drive the gearbox warning light came on. I pulled over and turned the ignition off and then re-started the car and the warning light was off and stayed off for the 30 miles i drove.

The car is a 2004 3 litre automatic. Has anyone else experienced this? The car is under BMW warranty so i am not particularly worried. Would like to know what might be causing it though.

its common for our auto tranny's gear switch contact to have gremlins, could be as simple as the switch or worse case a new tranny.

Car is in dealers today. They have said that they have had to contact BMW because it is throwing up an error code they dont recognise!! Slightly worrying.

They also said that the OSR coil spring has been replaced as it was broken. Again, not great for a car that has only done 28000 miles.
